Buffon shrugs off knee issue
Italy and Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has no plans to go under the knife to cure a long-standing knee ligament problem.
Buffon requires surgery on a damaged meniscus, but is not keen to miss games for either club or country.
"It's a problem that I have been carrying around for a long time, but I feel fine and it's something from nothing really," he explained.
"I do not know whether I will play against Cyprus on Wednesday, probably because (coach Marcello) Lippi will opt to play others, but I would still be able to take to the field.
"I think I should rest, but because I really want to be there on Saturday against Fiorentina, I will just play."
